Wow, Kew Gardens is fabulous in autumn - incredible colours so cleverly displayed, loved the virtual visit. You must have had fun picking your CP's Katherine, to do that lovely sketch! Pat, your Fullerton houses book is wonderful - has everyone b...

If I’d gone through my blog list before reading sketchercise, I’d have found Katherine’e sketch identified as the Sackler Crossing on Travels with a Sketchbook… Actually, it was more fun to figure it out from the video (it’s at about 5:14) I’ve j...

I love this blog! We've just had a splendid world tour of Alison's brilliant wintery thistle, Martin's stark, foreboding forest waiting for the first snow, a quick spring break just in time for Cathy's truly gorgeous jacaranda, back up north to ca...

Walking fast, sketching later

I'm taking a different path from the rest of my fellow sketchercisers--- for now, at least. I walk very fast for an hour to an hour- and- a- half, three times a week. I have my dog with me and this rapid clip is as much for her sanity as for mine. We both do better all day if we've been physically challenged early in the morning!
I've started to search for and collect 2 or 3 fallen or discarded objects that strike my fancy each time I walk. These I tuck into a small shoulder bag and take home to… Continue

Sketching Machu Picchu

This painting was started on location just below the Guardian’s Hut near the top of the archaeological site. I don’t know the number of steps, but the climb took about half an hour from the site entrance, and I think the vertical rise is about 250 m. Anyway the view was spectacu… Continue

Sketchercise is now BY INVITATION ONLY

Activity to maintain your health or become healthier doesn't need to be done in a gym. This group is for people who enjoy sketching from life (no photos!), have already developed the sketching habit AND have found ways of getting out and about and exercising with a sketchbook. Walk or cycle or paddle your own canoe - it doesn't matter what form of exercise, so long as it involves activity and sketching!

This group is for people with the Sketchercise habit and is now invitation only. In future, invites may be offered to people who are active on Sketchercise on Flickr for those people who would like to give Sketchercise a try - but haven't yet developed the habit. We also review your nominated website/blog for evidence of your sketching while taking exercise.
